Meredith K. Moseley, Head of School

Meredith holds a BS in Secondary Social Science Education from the University of Georgia and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.  She is a former Social Studies teacher at Tucker High School and Assistant Principal at Meadowcreek and Tucker High Schools.  Meredith holds teaching certificates in Social Studies, Educational Leadership, and Gifted Education.  She has been involved with SPS since she was 11 where she volunteered during the Summer Fun Camps.  She is a former 3 year old class teacher at SPS and has been the Head of School since 2013.  She has two daughters Grace (an SPS graduate) and Amelia (an SPS grade school student).  She enjoys spending time with her girls and husband Chris, watching UGA football, and reading. 

Maggie Casner, Assistant Head of School

Maggie holds a BS in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia.  Prior to joining SPS, she was president of a small technology company.  Maggie has served on the board and been an involved volunteer at SPS since her daughter joined the toddler's class in 2011.  Her daughter, Charlotte, is now enrolled in grade school at SPS.  Her favorite things to do are spending time in the mountains with her family, reading, yoga, and cooking.

Jennifer Rhodes, School Counselor  

Jennifer is the new school counselor. She is licensed in the state of Georgia as a LMSW.  She previously worked as a foster care social worker for a private non-profit organization in Atlanta. Jennifer received her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Georgia and her Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Prior to this new role, Jennifer taught in the kindergarten classroom from 2014-2018.  She lives in Tucker with her husband, Jeff, and their two daughters, Virginia and Martha.  Both of her children are SPS graduates and, during her time as an SPS parent, Jennifer served as an active board member and Joy of Giving committee member.  Jennifer loves spending time with her family and friends.  She enjoys hiking, camping, hearing live music, playing tennis and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Lauren Dellinger, Admissions & Operations Coordinator

Lauren is an Atlanta native and a GSU graduate with a BM in Vocal Performance. Now residing in Tucker, she had previously worked in customer service and childcare before joining Shallowford. Lauren is also a piano and general music teacher who works with children in one-on-one private lessons. She is an avid baker who loves to share her creations. In her free time, Lauren likes to read, explore, and snuggle with her cat and 2 dogs.

 

Kristina Burnett is the SPS first grade teacher and is beginning her 4th year here.  In the past, Kristina has worked as an audiologist at Emory and the Atlanta Speech School.  Prior to coming to SPS, she worked at Immaculate Heart of Mary School for 8 years as a first grade teaching assistant, library assistant, and garden coordinator.  She attended the University of Georgia and earned a B.S. Ed. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a M.Ed. in both Audiology and Education of the Hearing Impaired. She holds a Georgia State License in Audiology and Georgia Teaching Certification for Early Education, Hearing Impaired and areas of Special Education.  Kristina particularly enjoys teaching children to read and also watching students develop a love of reading and writing. Kristina has been married for 23 years and has 2 children, a daughter who is a sophomore in college and a son who is a senior in high school. In her spare time, Kristina enjoys spending time with family, watching UGA football, watching her son’s varsity basketball team, gardening, and scrapbooking.

Katie Carter is the 5th grade teacher, and this is her second year at SPS. She has a BFA in Art Education from the University of Georgia. She has 8 years of teaching experience and previously worked in Cobb and Dekalb County Schools. Katie grew up in Tucker, and still lives in the area with her husband and 2 cats. Katie loves drawing, calligraphy, knitting, and traveling. 

Amanda Davis is the 5th grade assistant teacher. She holds a BS in English from Georgia State University. Her husband, Scott, works in the IT Department at Emory University. Their youngest son, Richard, is in 3rd grade at SPS. Her oldest son is currently serving in the Navy, stationed at Port Hueneme in California. She was the 1st grade assistant last year. Prior to that, she was a substitute teacher for SPS and volunteered often in and around the school. She is also the Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 534, which meets at Shallowford, and the Logistics Officer for Civil Air Patrol's Sandy Springs Cadet Squadron.

 

Anne Dorsett studied Early Childhood Education at Western State University in Colorado, and is the kindergarten assistant teacher.  Anne has a daughter in grade school at SPS. During Anne's time at SPS she has been a room mom several times and has chaired many events.  She loves being outdoors, cooking, music, going out to dinner and being with her family and friends.  Anne is also a licensed esthetician.  She specializes in skin care and helping others with their skin care needs.  Anne's favorite thing is enjoying the beach and mountains with her daughter, Ella. 

Lee Engwall has a BA in History from Rhodes College and an MSLIS from Simmon College.  Lee is our kindergarten teacher.  She has experience in special medical needs, preschool, kindergarten, public librarian in children's services, school media specialist, and Orton Gillingham tutor.  Both of her children attended SPS, and Lee fell in love with the teachers, the administration, and the school's focus on the whole child.  She loves to read, run, and teach.  Her favorite animals are dogs and turtles.  Someday she plans to get back into gardening.

Catherine Gaglione has education degrees from Southeast Missouri State, UAB, and Georgia State.  She has taught for 23 years in elementary school and 14 years in middle school, and has been doing private tutoring since retirement.  She lives in Smoke Rise with her husband, Dominick.  Her hobbies are gardening and knitting, and she is the proud grandmother of three SPS students, Miller, Dru, and Cail Nama.

Julie Gregory is excited about teaching third grade at SPS.  She recently relocated to Atlanta with her husband and his new position.  Julie taught at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School in Jacksonville, Florida from 1999 until this past year. She has experience with the twos, in PreK, and the majority of her experience is in first grade.  She is trained in Orton-Gillingham, Singapore Math, and all the Lindamood Bell programs. She loves spending time with family and friends, reading, being anywhere close to the coast, and has a passion for SEC football, especially the University of Florida Gators!  

 

"Coach Kyle" Johnson teaches PE and has been a favorite staff member to SPS children since 2008. A graduate of Mercer University, he has lived in the area for over 20 years with his wife, Laura. He has two children that attended SPS from 2002 to 2009. His daughter Claudia is a student at Purdue University, while his son Eric attends Lakeside High School.  When he’s not at SPS you can often find him biking or rollerblading through the neighborhood.  He also loves to travel the world and has visited more than 15 countries with his wife and kids.  Kyle has a passion for sports and exercise that he enjoys sharing.

 

Daisy Kendrick has been a childcare provider for 34 years, has owned and directed daycares, works as a private nanny, and is certified in Early Childhood Development. She has an Associate Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor Degree in Project Administration.  Daisy is a lead teacher in the toddlers class.  Her granddaughter is an SPS graduate. When Daisy is not at SPS she enjoys her time with her husband of 27 years, her three children, one of whom is a State Representative of Georgia, and volunteering at her place of worship.

Casey Key joins SPS as the fourth grade lead teacher.  She holds degrees from College of Charleston (BS in Elementary Education), Georgia State University (Masters in Early Childhood Education, Gifted Endorsement).  Casey is from North Carolina and currently lives in Decatur with her husband, Justin, and children Caroline (4) and Harper (4 months), and dog, Grace.  She enjoys spending time with friends, family, and beach trips.

Lauren LaCroix is the 4th grade assistant and aftercare teacher in her 6th school year at SPS. Lauren has been married for 21 years and has 3 boys (Alex - 21, Marc - 20, Matthew - 16) that are no strangers to SPS. They have worked summer camp and have volunteered throughout the years. Her husband, Dave, works for Dekalb County. Lauren enjoys watching UGA football, going to the beach and mountains, and spending time with family and friends. 

Lourelle Lawrence begain teaching at SPS in 2016 and is currently a lead teacher in Pre-K. She previously taught at St. Bede's as an assistant and lead teacher in the 2's class. A native South African and Smoke Rise resident she is married with four children and has a furry friend, Rosie the dog. Going to her children's sports games, gardening, nature walks, and Candy Crush are a few of her favorite things. 

Amy Lettes is an assistant teacher in the 2's Class.  She holds a B.A. in economics from DePauw University and a JD from Vanderbilt University.  She practiced law for 12 years in Chicago and Atlanta prior to staying home with her 4 children ages 20, 18, 15 and 11.  Her youngest child attended SPS. She has been married to her husband, Louis, for 24 years.  In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Elena Murphy is a Pre-K lead teacher and is beginning her seventh year at SPS.  In addition to teaching at SPS, she enjoys teaching STEM concepts to children through Lego model-building classes.  Elena has a BBA from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN.  She is a native Atlantan and is married with two children. Both of Elena's children attended SPS.  She enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, and backyard birdwatching.

 

Mehejabin Naz is originally from Bangladesh. She and her husband have two children, both SPS grads. She has taught at SPS since 2010.  Naz serves as a 2's assistant teacher.  She also dedicates many hours volunteering and substitute teaching at SPS. She enjoys cooking, traveling and gardening.

Beatriz Reid, born and raised in Madrid, Spain, moved to the U.S in 2006. She is the Spanish and Art teacher for the grade school. She has a B.A. in Art History from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. Bea taught Spanish at the middle and high school levels before becoming a mom for the first time in 2008.  She also works as a Spanish tutor for children and adults.  In addition to her Spanish teaching activities, Bea taught English as a Second Language as a volunteer for five years.  Bea has 3 children currently attending SPS.

 

Kristen Shafer has taught at SPS for 4 years, at Oak Grove Elementary for 12 years, and at Country Day School in Costa Rica for 4 years.  She has a BS in Education from Miami University and a Masters Degree in Education from Framingham State College. Kristen is a 3's lead teacher.   Kristen is married with two daughters, one of whom attended SPS.  Her hobbies include playing ALTA league tennis, camping, hiking, sailing, painting, and running.

 

Aimee Small has 11 years of experience teaching in DeKalb County Schools teaching Kindergarten and 2nd Grade.  Aimee has taught at SPS since 2012, this year as a 3's assistant teacher.  She has a BS in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia.  She is married with 3 daughters and 2 cats. Aimee is a former SPS parent and is a member of Shallowford Presbyterian Church.  She enjoys reading, traveling, going to restaurants with friends, and being a mom.

Laura Smith is the 2nd grade lead teacher at SPS.  She holds a BS in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University, a MS in Teaching Reading K-5 from Walden University, and is Orton-Gillingham trained.  Prior to joining SPS, Laura taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, Summer School, and After School in Gwinnett County Public Schools for 16 years.  She has also taught Pre-K.  Laura's favorite things are swimming and spending time with her immediate and extended family.

Nicole Thorp is the assistant teacher in the 3-day 3's class. She holds a BA in English Literature from Carleton College in Northfield, MN and a teaching certification in Art (K-12) from the Art Institute of Chicago. She has taught children of all ages in many educational settings, including children’s museums, pre-schools and elementary schools, and has also worked in the non-profit arts world for Atlanta Ballet.  A New Jersey native, Nicole has now lived in Atlanta for 20 years.  She is proud to be part of the Flair Forest neighborhood with her husband and 2 children (SPS graduates). She likes anything involving artistic endeavors, good books and adventures! Nicole enjoyed many, many years of being a stay-at-home-mom and many, many “jobs” volunteering on school boards, committees, PTAs and Girl Scouts, and now is so excited to be returning to SPS in her new role as a teacher.

Charlotte West is the lead teacher in the 2's class. Charlotte is married with three children.  She currently serves The Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta as a Cadette troop leader and serves on the Parent Council Executive Board for her daughter's school.  She has enjoyed being an Elementary Science Olympiad Coach, and Club volunteer for First Lego League, Garden Club, and Chorus.  Charlotte attended CIA (Culinary Arts) and served The Vinings Club for 15 years in their culinary and membership departments.

Molly Woods joins SPS as the school media specialist. She holds a BA in English from Ithaca College and a Masters degree in School Library Media from Georgia State. She was a children's book editor in New York before moving to Atlanta, where she has worked as both a freelance writer and a certified Dekalb County schools media specialist. She loves anything having to do with books, cooking, exploring Atlanta, and spending time with her husband and two children (one a graduate and the other a current student).

Desiree Wroe has a degree in Biology and has taught at SPS since 2010.  She is the 2nd grade assistant teacher.  Both of her children attended SPS.  Desiree enjoys working with and teaching young children.  Prior to working at SPS, Desiree worked at St. Martin's Episcopal School.  Some of her hobbies include being a Girl Scout leader, room parent, involvement in her children's' sports activities, jogging, and reading.

 

Maria Younus is married with three children, one of whom graduated from SPS 10 years ago.  Maria has been a teacher since 2007.  She is a 3's lead teacher.  Her hobbies include cooking and shopping.
